Utah Royals announce Jimmy Coenraets as head coach
Coenraets has the interim tag dropped from his title as he is awarded the Royals coaching job
Utah Royals Football Club have announced the appointment of Jimmy Coenraets as head coach.
Coenraets, who first joined the Royals as an assistant coach under Amy Rodriguez in early June of this year, has served as interim head coach since June 30. The team has seen an improvement in preformances, having earned 5 wins, 2 draws, and 2 losses in his time as interim coach. Prior to his appointment, the club has 2 wins, 2 draws, and 11 losses.
Before joining Utah, Coenraets served as the head coach of OH Leuven in Belgium. He was named Belgium Pro League manager of the year in his second season with the club.
Utah Royals have one final game of the 2024 NWSL season. They host Gotham FC on Friday, November 1st. They have been eliminated from playoff cognition but their improved form in the second half of the season meant it came down to the final weeks before they officially missed the post season.
