Real Salt Lake hit the road as they continue their MLS campaign, with this week’s game taking them to Saint Paul to face Minnesota United. Minnesota have had a decent start to the season. They have 2 more points than RSL and sit in 6th place in the west, though their last two games (LAG and SKC) ended in draws.
RSL are coming off a tough home loss to FC Dallas. Despite winning in Texas the week before against Houston, a red card to Ari Piol in the first half saw 10-man RSL unable to break through. Lucho Acosta scored late in the first half and RSL’s attack, already an issue but without Luna and Marczuk, were simply unable to figure out a way to score.
That being said, RSL will see their two best attackers rejoin the team. And without any major injuries, they’ll have a much better chance in this game. With Piol out for this game, we’re likely to see Goncalves at the 10, Luna and Marczuk on the wings, and Ajago up top. How effective they are remains to be seen.
Minnesota have created a good number of chances so far this season and their goal scoring hasn’t been bad either. RSL’s defense remains an open question, but they didn’t let Dallas run the show last weekend, even with the man advantage.
