Real Salt Lake are coming off their second loss in a row, most recently against Minnesota United. In a game that should have seen RSL improve with key players returning after international duty, they looked entirely lost across the board.
The LA Galaxy, who are the current reigning Major League Soccer champions, are off to a much worse start than RSL. The Galaxy in search of their first win this season, having suffered 4 losses and 2 draws thus far. With key players like Riqui Puig and Marco Reus injured, it’s not shocking the Galaxy have had a tough start but they’ve certainly been worse than anyone predicted.
RSL’s biggest areas of concern is their inability to score and their inability to defend, which is a rough set of problems for any team. They’ve only kept a clean sheet once this season and shoehorning players like Philip Quinton into right back simply is not working.
Luna and Marczuk are creative attackers but they don’t have the support they need nor do they have a center forward who can consistently score.
RSL are very much in need of a win, and while this game could be a trap game, it is one they are capable of winning. The biggest questions around this team remain open.
