Player Ratings: Real Salt Lake 2-0 Seattle Sounders

Who stood out in RSL's 2-0 win?

Forster Ajago celebrating a goal against Seattle Sounders
Lucas Muller | Wasatch Soccer Sentinel
  • Cabral (GK) — 7.5: Had a great save or two, had a second assist on Ajago’s goal, and he generally looked completely up to the task.
  • Brown (RB, off 81’) — 6.5: He didn’t do too much wrong, but I don’t think he did anything particularly noteworthy, either.
  • Glad (CB) — 7: Looked a solid leader, didn’t panic, and was generally assured. This is the Glad we know.
  • Quinton (CB, off 81’) — 6.5: Lacks a bit of the quality a player like Glad has, but he was good enough on the day. I don’t think he did anything to win a starting spot.
  • Katranis (LB, off 68’) — 7.5: Consistently RSL’s most dangerous attacking player. He’s a real bright spot on this team.
  • Eneli (CM) — 8: Kept everything locked down in the middle, and he’s really going from strength to strength. Having a solid defensive midfielder makes everything work better, the way things are structured right now.
  • Ojeda (CM) — 7: A good performance from the midfielder. If he can unlock a bit more on the attacking side of play, he’ll be a really valuable asset.
  • Marczuk (RW, off 68’) — 6.5: Had some good moments in the attack, but he was a bit too disconnected from the rest of the attack.
  • Goncalves (AM) — 7.5: A really nice match from RSL’s only designated player. Easily his best performance of the season. He was generally really involved in build-up.
  • Luna (LW) — 7: Some good moments certainly, but he wasn’t at his creative best. Did well to connect play with the midfield.
  • Piol (CF, off 68’) — 6: Looked reasonably comfortable on his debut, but he never looked likely to score, despite a couple golden opportunities.

Substitutes

  • Junqua (on 68’) — 6.5: Seattle targeted that left side once he came on, and he was found out a bit — but he recovered well enough.
  • Ajago (on 68’) — 7.5: Got a great second goal for the team, and while he’s still doing a few too many celebrations all at once, it was a really nicely taken goal, and he did a lot to create the opportunity with a nice aerial take from a Cabral pass. He was fortunate to stay on the field at the very end of the match with a wholly unnecessary rake down Cristian Roldan’s knee, so we’ll see if anything comes from that.
  • Hidalgo (on 68’) — 5.5: Despite some promising opportunities in the attacking third after coming on as a winger, he simply couldn’t execute.
  • Henry (on 81’) — Not on long enough for a rating. Came on at right back for Brown.
  • Vera (on 81’) — Not on long enough for a rating.

Honorable mentions

  • Nouhou (CB, Seattle) — 10: Hahahaha.
