Player Ratings: Real Salt Lake 0-4 San Jose Earthquakes
Who didn't cover themselves in shame during RSL's worst league loss since April 2023?

- (GK) Cabral — 6: He gave up four goals, but he also kept it from being worse. I can’t blame Cabral for any of them. That’s not a good feeling for anyone, though.
- (RB) Brown (off 45’) — 4: He was completely lost on the first San Jose goal. In a funny and sad moment, he took one of the absolute worst possible shots from close range after his initial header from a corner kick was saved. It was a Kreilach-style jump-leap-karate-kick thing, and it was very funny.
- Quinton (off 57’) — 5: Generally poor, but he’s slightly saved here by not being on the field for the broadly calamitous final 20 minutes of the match.
- Glad — 5: Glad had a nice goal-line clearance in the first half, and that’s the only reason he didn’t score worse. Had a nightmare of a moment on the third goal, though he’ll be asking questions of the left side — how did Espinoza have so much time on the ball to deliver a perfect pass?
- Katranis (off 57’) — 6: He had a great shot at the end of the first half, and he was generally alright. Unfortunately , his poor run of luck continued after a wrist injury (or maybe an elbow injury) took him out of the match.
- Ojeda (off 77’) — 6: Not too much to speak of from Ojeda, which isn’t a bad thing for a defensive midfielder.
- Palacio - 5: While he wasn’t terrible, he did have some poor moments, and he absolutely gave up for the fourth goal. It’s hard, as I can’t truly blame him, but it’s not something we’re supposed to admit.
- Wolff — 6: While he tired late on, I think Josh Wolff was generally active, positive and involved. That’s about as good as it got on this team.
- Ruiz - 5.5: So, Pablo Ruiz isn’t a 10. But in a way, I think he’s not really playing a 10 in the attack, even if he’s nominally there. A topic for another day, surely.
- Luna — 6.5: He is far and away our best player, and that’s a scary prospect — not because I don’t love Diego Luna, but because he’s far from the finished product and might be moving to Europe at some point. Still, that’s not anything against Luna, who was generally good on the night, if unsupported. He did cough up the ball with a bit too much frequency.
- Ajago (off 68’) — 4: Offered nothing. Should not be a starting player, but that’s not his fault. That’s the club’s.
Substitutes
- Eneli (45’) — 6: Again, one of our better players, but he largely played at right back, where he’s not at his most effective.
- Junqua (57’) — 5: Looked a bit uncomfortable trying to play the wing back role we typically see from Katranis.
- Vera (57’) — 5: Conceded the corner that led to the second goal, and he generally looked a step slow.
- Goncalves (68’) — 5: Offered nothing in the center forward role, which he’s playing only out of desperation, I hope.
- Hidalgo (77’) — N/A: Did not play enough for a rating.
