Utah Royals 2025 preseason roster update
It's that time again! The pre to the season, and Utah Royals FC return in preseason form with a roster update.
We're back! And so too are Utah Royals FC, in preseason form, that is. The club released their 32-player roster as the team prepares to begin preseason in Utah before heading to Chula Vista, California for warmer weather. (Take us with you!) The roster includes 25 players under contact, with 7 non-roster invitees.
GOALKEEPERS: Mandy McGlynn (formerly Haught), Cristina Roque, Mia Justus DEFENDERS: Kate Del Fava, Imani Dorsey, Olivia Griffitts, Madison Pogarch, Kaleigh Riehl, Lauren Flynn, Ana María Guzmán (INTL), Tatumn Milazzo, Cora Brendle (NRI), Sydney Jones (NRI), Maryn Granger (NRI) MIDFIELDERS: Mikayla Cluff, Dana Foederer (INTL), Macey Fraser (INTL), Emily Gray, Ana Tejada (INTL), Ally Sentnor, Claudia Zornoza (INTL), Alex Loera, Chloe Sadler (U18, NRI), Aria Nagai (NRI) FORWARDS: Cloé Lacasse (INTL), Paige Monaghan, Brecken Mozingo, Mina Tanaka (INTL), KK Ream, Aisha Solórzano (INTL), Kayla Colbert (NRI), Jennifer Blitchok (NRI)
Utah spent the offseason extending contracts to forward Paige Monaghan and goalkeeper Mandy McGlynn and exercising Brecken Mozingo's option for 2026. The club said farewell to midfielder Agnes Nyberg, forward Michelle Vasconcelos, and forward Hannah Betford. All three became free agents and could sign with other clubs. Betford eventually signed with the North Carolina Courage. Six players from the 2024 roster also would not return for 2025, the club announced at the end of the 2024 season: Zoe Burns (defender), Cam Tucker (forward), Carly Nelson (goalkeeper), Shaelan Murison (forward), Darielle O’Brien (defender), and Julia Grosso (defender).
To strengthen and hopefully help the team have a way better 2025, Utah signed defender Ana María Guzmán on a one-year loan from Bayern Munich, forward Aisha Solórzano from Liga MX Femenil side Club Tijuana, and defender Tatumn Milazzo, a free agent who spent four seasons with the Chicago Red Stars. The Royals traded for midfielder Alex Loera from Bay FC, and welcomed goalkeepr Mia Justus, who was recently named to the 2025 US Women's National Team Futures Camp, from the University of Texas.
The Royals have the University of Utah scheduled for a February 1 match, before heading to California (no dates given yet). Utah will then play a series of exhibition matches and intrasquad scrimmages ahead of the 2025 NWSL season.
