All we can say is...finally! Utah Royals FC have added a veteran midfielder to their roster. With the trade and transfer window closing at midnight, Utah Royals FC made a trade with Angel City FC for $75,000 in allocation money in exchange for French midfielder Amandine Henry.
The French midfielder is considered a world-class footballer, having started her career in 2004 at the age of 15, playing for Olympique Lyonnais from 2007 to 2016, making 132 appearances. During her time in Lyon, Henry won Division 1 Féminine nine times, Coupe de France Féminine six times, and UEFA Women's Champions League three times. In March 2016, Henry signed with the Portand Thorns, making 33 appearances and winning the 2017 NWSL Championship. After the 2017 season, Henry returned to Europe, rejoining Lyon until 2023, adding four more Division 1 Féminine titles, two more Coupe de France Féminine titles, and four more UEFA Women's Champions League titles. In June 2023, Henry returned to the States signing with Angel City FC. Henry also has 93 caps with the French National Team.
Henry will join Utah through the 2025 season with an option for 2026, helping a Royals midfield that greatly needed a veteran presence. As a defensive midfielder, Henry is currently in the 99th percentile for progressive passes and carries, as well as aerial duels won. She also ranks in the 97th percentile for interceptions.
