The Utah Royals could not replicate another win this week, suffering another loss and the first road game defeat at the Washington Spirit, losing 2-1. The Spirit were just the better team in the first half, taking a 2-0 lead. And though a comeback was possible, the Royals could only inch within one goal after rookie Ally Sentnor scored in the 71st minute.

SCORING SUMMARY:

• 21st minute: Utah's Olivia Griffitts committed a foul in the penalty box, taking down Spirit midfield Croix Bethune. Andi Sullivan converted easily, giving the Spirit the 1-0 lead.

• 30th minute: Utah cleared the ball away after it had been in the box, but Trinity Rodman was in the right spot to regain possession. She then sent a cross back to the box where Ouleymata Sarr met the ball with a header for Washington's second goal.

• 71st minute: Rookie Ally Sentnor dribbled outside the box after receiving a pass from Dana Foederer and managed to get a shot for goal, despite being the defensive pressure from two defenders. The goal was her second of the season.
