RSL announces Chicho Arango signing
Arango arrives at RSL as a designated player on a three-year guaranteed deal.
Real Salt Lake announced this morning the signing of Chicho Arango to a three-year deal on a designated player contract, finalizing one of RSL's most prominent deals in club history. The club holds an extension option for a fourth contract year. Arango arrives after a very short stint at Liga MX side CF Pachuca.
In terms of players with regional credibility and league success, it's easy to argue that Arango is RSL's most prominent signing in club history — and that's accompanied by what reporter Tom Bogert described as a "$6m fee."
Arango, who moved to Pachuca at the end of a successful 2022 campaign with LAFC, joins after only six months at his new club. He scored five goals during 13 matches in the Liga MX Clausura. That didn't quite meet his 16-goals-in-34-games record for LAFC in the 2022 MLS campaign, but it was a promising start, rendering this move a fascinating one.
